And they all fall down

It seems as though every day I have less and less time to get things done.  Which is crazy because my husband always says 'multi-tasking, (sigh), what my wife does best'.  For those of you who don't know my husband, this isn't a real compliment, but rather a snide reminder that I forever over schedule myself and try to do too much in one day.  What can I say, I'm 40 years old, I highly doubt I'll change now.

It makes me wonder how our grandparents did anything when they had 7 or 8 kids back then.  I will admit I'm a fanatic about 'keeping up' with things like dishes, laundry, cleaning, so I do a little everyday to not let it get monumental. But now that the kids are getting into everything, it seems like I can't take my eyes off them for a second.  We've baby-proofed the living/dining room area so they can play freely, but even so there are so many ways they can still injure themselves that I only walk away if they are in their swings or their exersaucers/jumpies.  What it's boiled down to is nap time.  Trying to get 3 meals (times 3) ready for them, prep bottles, change laundry, shower, make baby food, clean, do dishes, pay bills, eat, etc in the brief nap time they share.  And I won't lie, what I really want to do is sit on the couch and enjoy absolute silence while they are napping.  Maybe do some nerdy math puzzles or sodoku.  I am an only child.  We didn't have a noisy house. It takes some getting used to. Lucky for me I adapt easily.  Sometimes I even coo loudly with them just to keep my sanity.

The kids had their 1 year doctor appointment today.  Each kid got 4 immunizations AND had to get blood drawn for lead testing.  It went surprisingly well.  Not sure if it is because they were NICU babies and poked and prodded for 5 months, but they cried quickly and then got over it.  And some snacking on Cheerios helped distract them as their siblings got upset, because that can become a 3 baby meltdown real fast.  Elsie did great for shots, but freaked out when it came time for blood draw.  Talk about screaming.  Oh my.

Not much to update on the standing and walking.  Danny pulls himself up on everything!  And he is definitely getting more confident free standing and cruising.  Elsie will stand and lean on toys, Sammy still likes solid ground and stays on his belly or back on the floor.  He does love to lay on his side, he lounges on his side watching the others play or watching tv.  He will stand and play with toys if you put him there, but not wanting to do it on his own.  Most likely because he watches Danny and Elsie face plant several times a day.

We do have some new hobbies.  Kids now come into the kitchen as I prep food & bottles.  Since I'm not lugging in toys to the kitchen, we improvise with empty plastic bottles and boxes.  Jackpot.  The kids think I am awesome when I give them these things to play with.  They play for 30 min just chasing it around on the tile.  And they are very competitive.

Our other new obsession (thus the name of this post)  are the stack-able blocks. I stack them they knock them down.  Repeat 73 times a day.  Watch kids race to the tower and knock it down over and over.  The other day Elsie crawled over and then stopped right in front of it and sat up just looking at it.  Then she started playing with something else.   Danny comes crawling like a madman to knock it down and just as he reaches out Elsie kicks it with her foot.  With total conviction on her face as if to say 'just because I don't want to play doesn't mean I'll let you have fun".  She is such a stinker.

This week we got our pictures from Lynnie C Photography.  Lynnie is a great photographer out of Portsmouth who offered us a maternity and a baby shoot when she found out we were having triplets.  She does such a great job, and her specialty is outside pictures, so check her out on Facebook if you are looking to have some done!

  1. Those pictures came out great! You all look so adorable! I understand needing to use nap time as re-charge time, so I've shifted a lot of my daily housekeeping stuff to when George comes home and the weekends. I'd go crazy otherwise, and it's not fair to sit Zoe in front of the TV all day so I can scrub toilets/showers, do laundry, wash floors, etc. I can't imagine not having a rest when she rests and you have that times three!!
