Sammy and Elsie are 4 pounds! Hoping when I get to the hospital this morning that Danny will be as well, since he was only grams away yesterday. 4 pounds is 1814 grams, and to think that in week 1 the boys weight dropped as low as 630 grams and Elsie at 640 grams. Now they are triple their weight! Holy moly! They are all starting to look like little chubbas, with their wrinkles being replaced with rolls! We love it!
All the babies are doing great on their current vent settings. Sammy has been sitting in 21% oxygen (otherwise known as room air!) for a few days, and although Danny just made the jump to CPAP 8 like his siblings, he has caught right up needing only 24%-29%. This is a dramatic change to just weeks ago when they were all needing 40-50% oxygen. The less oxygen the better for tons of reasons, but one being eye development. Less oxygen equals better eyes, so we are pretty pumped about these latest stats. Even the doctors are, saying in rounds yesterday that this is a fantastic improvement and they want to just hold them steady on these settings till they grow healthy, new lung tissue to replace the tissue damaged from the intubating vents they were on in the beginning.
Here are some pics of our chubba lubbas....
Elsie
oh look I can take out my cannula
Nurse Barbara says no way
Danny
The sock doll has seen better days but look at the difference! It was as big as Danny!

WAHOOO... brings tears to a fellow mamas eyes...
ReplyDeleteHi Lisa,
ReplyDeleteI am friends with Kendra, you groomed her pup Tessie. She came over last night after picking Tessie up, all she had as an update on you was your blog name so we immediately looked it up to see how everything was going. (she didn't know if you had had the babies) I just wanted to reach out to you. I have 6 month old twin boys and live in Avon. But have found a great resource in Keeping Pace Multiple Miracles in Bridgewater. They have great groups and a moms meeting once a month. I know your journey maybe crazy right now but when the time is right please keep them in mind http://www.keepingpace.org/content.aspx?page_id=0&club_id=856350.
I look forward to following the babies journey through the blog and praying for them as they get stronger ever day. So glad I found your blog!
