T is for Teething

Well, here we are at another September.  We had a busy end of summer, had a few  birthday parties, visited Story Land and camped for a few days in NH, been enjoying the new deck (it looks like a daycare playground out there), and going for walks.

Story Land was a hoot.  The boys LOVED the little kid doors, and ran in and out, opening and shutting them.  Elsie liked the slide and riding the swan boats with cousin Kylah.  And the train was a super hit for everyone.  As always the winner was the splash pad.  We played in the one at Story Land and found one in the center of North Conway in a park, got some great videos.  The first night camping the kids wanted to party at 2am which is unusual for our brood.  My kids sleep 8-8. Period.  Very rarely do they require intervention if they wake in the middle of the night.  So we had to ride it out cuddling and consoling until they all crashed around 3:30 am.  Luckily the rest of the time they slept soundly.  We were able to do Story Land all morning AND we were able to keep them up for the 20 min ride home so they went down for a long refreshing nap.  Yay!  We also got in some nice dinners out and some shopping.

The big story this blog post is 2 year molars.  AHHHH.  The kids are so miserable. The last 2 weeks have been intolerable.  Whining , crying, fussing, we've seen it all.  There are times Danny has his binkie and his entire fist in his mouth.  The plethora of drool coming out of Sammy is incredulous.  I didn't think a baby could make so much drool.  Unreal.  And Elsie, well she is just a vamped up version of the regular Elsie.  Extra sassy, everything that happens is the end of the world.  Everyone is running low grade fevers on and off, sleeping a little more, and extra cranky.  Miguel couldn't believe how far into his mouth Danny wedged the frozen soother.  I'm glad to report one of these 6 dreaded molars has finally cut through on Sammy's left side.  Now just 5 more to go.  These are way worse than the first teeth.  Holy Moly I hope this goes quick.  The only good news about this is everyone wants extra snuggles.  I have never been more wanted in my entire life.  Every time I look down there is a toddler looking at me with their hands up (usually crying or whimpering).  And if I'm already holding one, the other 2 are crying and hugging my leg.  Most days you can find me sitting on the floor so I can cuddle one on each side and one on my lap.  I love snuggles.  I know they won't snuggle me forever, so I soak up every minute.  Well not every minute. I'll admit sometimes I throw on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and get up and hide in the kitchen for 10 min.  And sometimes in that 10 minutes I eat some ice cream or Reese's cups for a quick zen burst.  But then I'm back on the job.

Lots of new words coming out.  Elsie is using her voice to make words instead of screams.  She handed Sammy a teething ring and came out with 'here sammy'.  And her new favorite phrase is 'mom. mama. mommy. ma. momma, mom mom mom, ma, mommy'.  We've heard 'yum', 'shoes', 'doggie', and we work a lot on identifying new objects and trying to repeat the words.  They love movies, right now RIO and RIO 2 are their favorites.  They've started mimicking the songs trying to sing. They are showing tons of understanding and following directions (when they want to).  They are also trying to do a lot of new things.  Buckling their high chair clips, putting on clothes and shoes, trying to take off their diapers.

I've also noticed a big growth spurt this past month.  Elsie is filling out her 9 month clothes, finally moving into 12 month stuff for the fall.  Sammy is finally fitting in his shoes without falling out. Danny just keeps getting taller and wider.  They are weighing in at Sammy 23 lbs and 32 inches, Danny at 26 lbs and 34 inches, and Elsie at 20 lbs and 30 inches.  Look out we have 2 year olds on the way!

Poor Danny is so tired waiting for mommy to get his second helping cut up

Playing at Elana and Ethan's birthday party. They loved this climber so we bought one from a friend

The obsession with sticks is crazy.  It's the new it toy.

Sammy's expressions are so sweet and genuine
