Summer comes and summer goes

Another summer has come and gone, and it feels like it happened in a flash.  This summer's weather was less than desirable for swimming.  Nice for bike riding and playing in the yard though so not a total bust.

Plus it was a great month to go to our first movie!  Auntie Cathy treated us to Despicable Me 3 at Patriot Place.  The kids had a blast.  They did way better than I expected, sitting the entire movie.  We had a big bag of popcorn and then walked around the stores and ate lunch at Round Robin.  A great day.  Look at these smiles after the movie finished!  Every week they ask when we are going back to watch it again.

Grammie snapped these photos showing how well everyone was doing during the movie

totally zonked in the car on the way home

We headed to Buttonwood Park for a pet festival and then headed into the zoo to check out the new rain forest exhibit.  We met up with the Goveia's and had a nice visit with them.

Elsie went incognito to avoid the paparazzi

We also went on a short camping trip down at Bayview Campground in Bourne.  The kids weren't into the chilly pool, but loved their playground since it had a little excavator toy they could dig dirt with.  HUGE HIT.  And we enjoyed our time riding our bikes and taking walks and playing games outside. We rode bikes along the canal and the kids stopped and waved at every boat that went by.  The kids sat by their first fire and made s'mores. They think camping is even cooler now that fire and chocolate have been added to it.

We had an awesome visit with 2 of our favorite NICU nurses, Barbara and Donna.  The kids loved playing with their grandchildren and the adults got to do some nice visiting and catching up.  Love these ladies, always a good time with them. So happy they get to continue to see our babies grow and flourish.

we realized we forgot a group shot with Donna before she left

We went to Daddy's annual company cookout and had fun playing, eating, face painting, and swimming.  Danny has been flat out anti-face painting at any event that has it.  When Elsie and Sammy went to have theirs done, I asked him and got a quick 'I don't want to'.  OK.  Then Sammy got Spiderman and that was a game changer.  Danny came over and said I want to paint my face with Spiderman.  So game on.  Here they are, 2 spidermans and a hello kitty.

after swimming the faces are half on and half off

The rest of the month filled up with playground trips, enjoying our new backyard, helping Grammie and Auntie Sharon shovel mulch, riding our power wheels and playing, playing, playing.

So Danny and Elsie got out the hose and turned it on and tried to wash the power wheels.  Sammy came running out with a towl to dry them off.

Danny grabbed my nail polish while I was helping Sammy on the potty, and did this in under 2 minutes

oh boy

well at least he is thrilled with himself
