We officially have 3 walkers. Over the last 2 weeks, Sammy and Elsie have really found their sea legs. Sammy doesn't crawl at all now. When he falls, he squats and lifts himself up and starts walking again. Sometimes it's incredible how fast these developments happen, and exciting to watch them unfold (as much as it pains me how quickly my babies have become little people).
The kids are really starting to show lots of different emotions now. They love giving kisses, and by kisses I mean lunging at you with a slobbery open mouth. And Danny is not messing around, if you try to turn so he gets your cheek, he grabs your face and your ears and holds you still while he plants one on you. He also talks while he is kissing you. A sweet cooing sound with a big smile after he's drooled all over you. Very heartwarming. Sammy is our snuggler, likes to just sit in your lap and be held. Elsie is coming around. She is still the most independent, but has been sneaking kisses and hugs the last month, as well as loving to be tickled. She even kissed Sammy. We were at swimming and he leaned in to kiss her and she kissed him back! Usually she swats him.
They are also showing some other emotions. Like throwing themselves to the ground and arching their backs when one of their siblings is playing with a toy they want, or they've finished their snack and I say all done, or if they are told no, etc. There's been a lot of shoving and 'not nice' touching. We keep reminding to 'touch nice', but it's a slow process. And the worst is they laugh when they push or hit one of the other ones. Little evil laughs. This is where the fun begins I guess.
Feeding themselves is progressing as well, they are learning to take bites of food which is helpful, although they still put a plethora of 'bites' into their mouths at the same time until they gag, so we are working on that. They look like little chipmunks with their full cheeks. Sometimes they have so much food in their mouths they put their fingers on their lips to literally hold it in. Then sit there like that for minutes while the food melts down like snow banks until it's possible to swallow little portions at a time.
Dancing is one of their favorite activities. Any music catches their attention and gets them moving, but nothing gets them shaking like the Jeopardy theme song. The TV is set to the music channel most of the day, but we watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy as we wind down before bedtime. They go crazy over the Jeopardy music. Check out the video below.
They also love the push toys. They have 3 walkers and 3 riders, as well as a rocking elephant. Elsie is the only one who has figured out how the elephant rocks, the boys try to bounce up and down on it. Elsie rocks it so much she almost does an endo. She is such a daredevil.
The weather is making us (ok me) stir crazy. I can't wait for a day we can go out for a walk. I took some pictures as a keepsake in the blog. I've been debating bringing out the kids to play in the snow, but it's been so arctic I haven't yet. Hopefully some days in the 40s soon will allow us some snow time before it all melts.
