Today the babies had their second eye exams. Everybody's eyes are improving the way they should be. Their eye development is a little slower than babies that are still in utero at 33 weeks, but no signs of any problems up to this point.
Yesterday we started OT on all three babies. This consists of getting leg, foot, toe, and ankle massages using grape seed oil for lotion. By getting everything moving, it is supposed to help with weight gain while reducing fluid retention. Jennifer, the OT therapist, sat with me and taught me the techniques so I can do their therapy everyday while holding. It was really cool and I love reinforcing 'good' touch with them considering they get poked and prodded for tests and procedures on a regular basis. After all those heel sticks it feels nice to have a massage.
The NICU welcomed a third set of triplets over the weekend. The Asante boys are gorgeous little 34 week munchkins weighing in each around the 3.5 lb range. Yesterday Nicole and I went and meet their mom Evelyn. It was neat to have all 3 of us triplet moms together. Hoping our children will grow up knowing each other!
Yesterday we got an awesome gift basket from Tav and Maria with snacks to take to the hospital. It had microwave soups and mac and cheese, oatmeal, cereal bars and other yummy snacks... what a great idea for anyone with a lengthy hospital stay. Thank you guys!
