We've had a busy September with starting Pre-K. The kids are now doing Monday through Friday at school and they couldn't love it more! I thought I'd be planning today to go off with the kids to do something for their birthday, and instead all 3 of them were so excited to go to school on their birthday. This year the boys are in one class and Elsie is in another. The boys have teachers Mrs. Lamb and Mrs. Medeiros, and Elsie has teachers Ms. Hartis and Ms. Hession. Splitting them up was a great idea. Elsie is too interested in what everyone else is doing and a mothering hen to really focus on herself. Being by herself has allowed her to really shine academically and socially.
The kids have been together 24 hours a day, every day. Now during school they can have a much needed break that makes them miss each other. Sam walks Elsie to her class (next door to his class) and tells her to have a great day. The kids see each other during recess and lunch, and the teachers say they run up to each other and knock each other over they are so excited to see each other again. Today at school Elsie actually fell asleep during rest time, and Danny woke her up because he missed her and that is one of the few times of day they can sit together. Danny says My Els at school as well and his teachers think it's just adorable. Next year when they get to Kindergarten there will be 3 classes and they will all be separated. It's really unique being a triplet but I don't want it to be their only identity.
We had another great visit to Southwick's Zoo this month. We were lucky to have our cousins Octavio, Maria, Luca, and Matteo, and Tia Lina join us for the day. It was a hot one, but we made it through. This year the kids were tall enough to do the sky ride. They loved looking down at all the animals, but I was a little nervous I won't lie. I didn't realize we were literally over all the habitats with fidgety toddlers on a not-so-secure chair lift. But we made it through, and I'll remember not to do that for next year. Of course the rides were a big hit. Elsie couldn't wait to go back on the bear spinner rides, and they enjoyed a spinning rocket ride where the worker squirted them all with water guns when they passed by to cool them off.
We snuck in one last beach day before school started, we soaked up the sun and the waves and played in the sand.
With the upcoming birthday party we have been doing some yarkwork, and the kids were so excited to work with the guys outside.
We went to the Apple Peach parade. It was cold and windy this year, so we waited in the car until it was close. We decided to skip the fair and went for lunch instead.
I got glasses this month, and Sammy was super excited that Mommy looked like him. Elsie was unhappy that she does not have glasses, and Danny just kept asking why I had glasses. So I explained that as adults get older sometimes their eyes change. He replied 'But Mom, you're not old!' I love that kid.
We had another beautiful day for our birthday party this year. I can't believe the kids are 5. They enjoyed playing the day away on the bouncy obstacle course, and everyone got their face painted and some glitter tattoos. The kids loved their cakes, this year Sammy asked for a fire truck, Elsie for an Ariel cake, and Danny wanted the number cake again but with Spiderman, Batman and Legos. So pretty straightforward lol. I did my best to accommodate.
4th time is a charm.
I'd say he liked it
thanking Auntie Sharon for their gift
My Batman
so serious
we rented a popcorn machine and the kids loved filling up their boxes
playing rapunzel
singing happy birthday
As soon as we started singing Happy Birthday, Danny started dancing.
And last but not least, the year 5 video. This feels like such a big milestone, leaving the baby stage and moving into school age. Sigh. As much yelling, and time outs, and fighting over toys, and whining goes on, I really do try to enjoy them at this stage because it is so fleeting. Sometimes I yell all day and then lay teary-eyed next to them in bed, snuggling them to sleep thankful for another day with them. Enjoy.
