I can't believe another summer is almost in the books. This one has been awesome. I have taken the kids out several days a week all summer on adventures. This month we went to the Rego's for a day at the pool and a nice bike ride around the block. We've been swimming in Grammie's pool every week and have had our friends Amy, Jack, Abby, and Bryce, as well as our other triplet friends Ajax, Nico, and Frankie and their mom Robin, and our friends Tony, Sandy, Aubrie and Max over to swim with us. We've been to Sherri's house every week to swim in her pool and play in the yard. Rosamaria came over to visit us and we made ice cream sundaes. We went to Erin's wedding and to Jonah's birthday party. We spent a day at Auntie Cathy's swimming and snacking by the pool. We've been out on lots of walks, and been to a bunch of playgrounds, and we met our friends Leigh, Hannah, Zoe, and Andrew at the country club pool last week. And Mommy and Daddy had our first solo getaway without them. It sure has been busy! Most of our adventures are in the morning, as we are still holding on to nap time in the afternoon. I'm sad this is our last summer with naps, but looking forward to doing full day adventures next year.
Lots of new stuff being said in our house. Elsie is still the biggest talker, and she speaks in full sentences now. The other day while eating our ice cream sundaes, she said 'Mommy, this is DEElicious. This is my faborite!' I was impressed until the next day eating american chop suey she said 'Mommy, this is DEElicious. This is my faborite!' and I said 'I thought ice cream was your favorite?' and she said 'oh ya, me too'. Me too is her go to line. Anything you are doing, Elsie says 'me too'. And if she likes it she adds the 'oh ya, me too'.
Sammy is really coming along with words, now putting a few together at a time that are pretty clear. He definitely has doubled his vocabulary over the summer. He is still the sweetest, kissing Elsie's boo boos when she gets hurt. He's also had a little aggressive streak going. If he doesn't get what he wants, he's been growling. Yes, growling. And destruction usually follows the growl. The other day Elsie took his toy outside and he growled at her then flipped over the kiddie picnic table. So we often discuss what behaviors are appropriate when we are upset. Sammy's favorite toy is the loader Miguel and I found on vacation in Maine. He plays with it in the sand for hours so happy.
Danny is loving being able to talk and have people understand him. He has been frustrated for a year now. He uses his new words to point to everything and identify it. The problem here though is he waits for confirmation, so you have to repeat back what he said. Well, that's exhausting. And God forbid you repeat it back wrong, he will say it over and over, louder and louder, until you figure it out. Danny's favorite toy this month is the big crane. There's a video below with him playing with it.
We only have a few more visits with Early Intervention before the kids turn 3. They were automatically enrolled in EI because of their extreme prematurity. We have also decided to wait another year for preschool. Our kids will miss the cutoff, so I thought we would try to do some fun activities on our own this winter before they head off to preschool for the next 2 years.

this is Danny's new thing. He is hot/cold sensitive, and so many times when we are swimming he says he's cold. So I lay out his blanket before we go in the water. When he's cold he comes out and lays in the sun to warm up.
